The Ayurveda-Astrology Connection: Your Dosha and the Stars
Ayurveda and Jyotish are sister sciences in the Vedic tradition. Discover how your planetary placements indicate your Prakriti (constitutional type), which doshas are dominant, and how to use astrological timing for optimal health and healing.
Ayurveda and Jyotish come from the same Vedic knowledge tradition. Ayurveda studies health, constitution, food, lifestyle, and healing. Jyotish studies time, karma, planetary influences, and life patterns. Together, they offer a holistic view of body, mind, and spirit.
Doshas and Planetary Qualities
The three doshas are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Vata is movement and air. Pitta is heat and transformation. Kapha is structure and stability.
Planets can echo these qualities. Saturn and Rahu may aggravate Vata through dryness, anxiety, irregularity, or depletion. Mars and the Sun may intensify Pitta through heat, inflammation, anger, or ambition. Moon, Venus, and Jupiter can support Kapha qualities, though excess may show attachment, heaviness, or stagnation.
Reading Health Through the Chart
Astrologers often examine the ascendant, Moon, sixth house, eighth house, twelfth house, planetary strength, and relevant Dashas when considering health tendencies. This is not a replacement for medical care. It is a symbolic tool for understanding patterns and timing.
For example, a chart may show sensitivity to stress, digestion, sleep rhythm, inflammation, or emotional eating. Ayurveda then offers practical lifestyle responses.
Seasonal and Planetary Timing
Ayurveda teaches that routines should change with the seasons. Jyotish adds timing through transits and Dashas. A person in a Saturn period may need more rest, oiling, grounding food, and consistency. A Mars-heavy period may require cooling practices and careful anger management.
Practical Integration
Start with basics: regular sleep, warm digestion-friendly meals, daily movement, breathwork, and a routine that fits your constitution. Then use astrology to understand when extra care is needed.
The shared goal of Ayurveda and Jyotish is not prediction for its own sake. It is wiser living through rhythm, self-knowledge, and alignment with nature.
